Great location, excellent staff. Clean rooms where every effort has been made to make you feel welcome. I stayed in a traditional Japanese room which was excellent and a fabulous experience.
Kindness of staff, cleanliness, Japanese style
The location close to the Station, if somebody is looking for that. Cleanliness, quiet location in small street, a small inn for mainly young travellors, free internet
Small japanese rooms with plastic bath, very small even for japanese standards. You have to make your own bed with futons on the floor, not comfortable. Small tv on the floor, only japanese programs unfortunately not a real Ryokan as it does not have a Japanese Bath, no Japanese Breakfast. Rather a Youth Hostel japanese style and for that the price is rather high.
Typical japonese style. Very friendly reception. Would recomend
The Jap style room had best blankets! And private ensuit shower and toilet is excellent.
No English speaking TV channels.
The staff was trying to do his best.
The room was small.
Loved the whole experience. It was beautiful, in a great location, peaceful and very comfortable. The staff were fantastic, spoke good English and were really helpful. The atmosphere was very japanese, as well as being comfortable and friendly. Excellent internet connection in the rooms too. We hope to come back!
We liked everything about this hotel. I would say, if you have not experienced a tatami room, it is great - but I found I had an alergy to the straw tatami mats. the staff were extremely obliging and we were able to move pronto into a Western style room...which was even better than before and still very Japanese.
Very friendly and accomodating staff in a typical ryokan setting with sufficient modcons for comfort. Internet was welcome as was a quality laundry. The staff spoke excellent english and couldn't have been more helpful in providing advice about Kyoto. Of note was their help in accomodating my wife's diet which is restricted for health reasons.
Air-conditioning. Free lending of umbrellas. Private, western-style bathroom.
Weak lighting. The breakfast (toast and jam) was ok, but did not meet my expectations. I had erroneously expected to kneel down for breakfast and to taste Japanese food in a Ryokan.
The hotel staff spoke good English and were very helpful with giving guidance on bus routes to the major attractions. We stayed in a Western style room for 5 nights, and then extended our stay by one night and had to switch to a Japanese style room the last night. The Western style was bigger and much more comfortable.
It is a 10-15 minute walk to the central train/bus station. This can seem like a long trek after a full day of sight-seeing, or in the rain. But, bus #9 has a stop one block from the hotel if you don't mind waiting for buses. Otherwise, the hotel was a great value and very comfortable.
The experienceof japaneese style accommodation. The design and smell of the hotel were very relaxng.
Very stylish Ryokan, incredibly peaceful atmosphere. Staff was extremely kind and helpful.
The staff was very friendly. We were invited to sit down and have a cup of tea while filling out the forms. The information about the surroundings was excellent. There was a cable internet conection in the room and WiFi in the lobby. The breakfast was good.
We accidentally booked Japanese style room and this was quite surprising to us and rather uncomfortable.
Perfect for people who want to feel japanese style rooms.
the staff is very friendly, welcoming, helpful and informative. They always try to accomodate our needs and help us arrange our DIY trip. It was nice to stay at this royokan during our visit in Kyoto.
I was delighted with the authentic Japanese experience at the Sakura hotel. Beautiful attention to detail, excellent value, and reasonably well located. Staff were very helpful and overall a very delightful experience and good value for money. Kevin Hayes , Brisbane, Australia.
